About the INPEX Scholarship

Established in 1981, the INPEX Scholarship Foundation aims to enhance academic cooperation and cultural ties between Japan and partner countries. Initially supporting Indonesian students, the program has since expanded to include students from Australia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

As of March 2025, 149 international students and 67 Japanese students have benefitted from this competitive and life-changing program.

Scholarship Benefits

The INPEX Japan Scholarship provides full financial coverage:

For Indonesian, Australian, and UAE recipients:

• Full tuition and entrance fees

• Round-trip airfare between home country and Japan

• Monthly stipend of ¥160,000

• Commuter pass support

• Arrival/settlement allowance

• Scholarship duration: Up to 2 years and 8 months

For Japanese recipients (studying abroad):

• ¥150,000 monthly stipend

• Round-trip airfare to Indonesia, Australia, or UAE

Eligible Nationalities

Eligibility Criteria

For Indonesian Applicants:

• Indonesian citizen

• Graduate of a Natural Sciences degree from an Indonesian university

• GPA ≥ 3.00

• Under 30 years old

• Must have a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from a Japanese university

For Australian Applicants:

• Australian citizen

• Graduate of a recognized Australian university

• Degree in Social Sciences, Humanities, or Natural Sciences

• GPA ≥ 3.00/4.0 or 5.25/7.0

• Under 30 years old

• Must obtain a LOA from a Japanese university

For UAE Applicants:

• UAE national

• Graduate of a recognized university in the UAE

• Degree in Social Sciences, Humanities, or Natural Sciences

• GPA ≥ 3.00

• Under 30 years old

• LOA required from Japanese university or professor

For Japanese Applicants (Outbound):

• Japanese citizen

• Graduate of a Japanese university

• Under 35 years of age
